Vanguard High School

Vanguard High School is located in the beautiful city of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. It is officially registered with the Ontario Ministry of Education and an international high school with the qualification to grant Ontario secondary school credits and diplomas in Canada.


Our school designs and provides key high school courses for the needs of students with higher education goals such as Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. A diversity of programs are designed and customized for students, including Ontario secondary school credit courses, IELTS training classes, bilingual after school tutoring and so on. We also collaborate with North American universities in a dual enrollment program.

Vanguard Online Academy is an online high school officially accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education, Canada, offering Grade 9 to Grade 12 courses for students worldwide.

The school combines leading network learning platform to provide students from around the world with formal Canadian high school online learning. Through it, students can also receive Canadian high school education and obtain a diploma wherever they are. At the same time, when applying for a university, students could gain a greater advantage.

Head of English/ESL---Mr. Kamil Al Sahawneh

My name is Kamil Al Sahawneh. I am a certified OCT teacher. I have an MA in English Language and its Literature. I completed the course work in the PhD program. I have 29 years of experience teaching English and ESL courses at different educational institutions, such as the English Language Studies at Renison University College/ University of Waterloo, the English Language Institute at Renison University College/ University of Waterloo, Saint Louis Adult and Continuing Education Centers at Waterloo Catholic District School Board, Thomas Merton Center for Continuing Education at Halton Catholic District School Board, University of Jordan, Terra Santa College, etc. I have taught the following courses: ENG101, ENG102, ENG103, ENG104, Written Academic English, Presentation Skills (University Level),ENG4U, ENG3U, ENG1D, ENG2D, ENG3C, ENG4C, ENG3E, ENG4E,OLC4O, IELTS, LYACU1, and all ESL courses.My passion is to motivate all my students, get them

engaged in all classroom activities and get the most out of them.


Head of Business/Science/OSSLT---Renee Wallace-Konu  

Renee has over 25 year of teaching as a veteran educator and has taught English,Geography, and Business courses at both the middle school and high school levels. Renee believes education needs to be collaborative, creative and student focused in order to provide students with the skills they need to make seamless transitions to college university and beyond.  Renee holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and History from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta and a M. Ed. Teacher Certification  in Education from D'Youville College, Buffalo, New York USA. Additionally, she received a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from Medaille School of Graduate Studies in Amherst New York U.SA. Renee has worked with Toronto District School Board as a fully time teacher for over ten years as well as  with the Ontario Ministry of Education in developing the (OSSLT) Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test.  Overall, she has a deep interest in providing support to student  collectively and individually.
